En mis viajes a Japón desde 1989 he visitado Kioto unas 10 veces y espero seguir sumando. Si tuviera que escoger una ciudad en el Mundo sería Kioto. Una garza de las que revolotean el rio Kamo no sería una mala reencarnación.
Qué ¿por qué?
Pues porque dentro de su discreto y extenso galimatías urbano para una ciudad de millón y medio de habitantes, a veces con diseño arquitectónico, otras tradicional y otras ni uno ni otro -pero aún discretaas construcciones- está salpicado por joyas que indican su pasado de capital imperial (794-1868) , de nucleo cultural del país.
1700 templos budistas, 800 santuarios sintoistas, 17 de ellos patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco se extienden en la llanura de Kioto y en los montes que la circundan.
Entre esa abundancia aunque existan ese top10, o top17 en éste caso, cada vez que voy descubro algún templo, santuario o jardin que me resulta tan impresionante como los principales. No es una cuestión de tamaño lo es de equilibrio, de diseño, de belleza.

In my trips to Japan since 1989 I have visited Kyoto about 10 times and I hope to keep counting. If I had to choose a city in the world it would be Kyoto. A heron that flutters around the Kamo River would not be a bad reincarnation.
That... Why?
